NOMINATIONS EXTENDED TO 2021!

Who do you think should win the Haven Knox-Johnston Seamanship Award 2021?

The Haven Knox-Johnston Seamanship Award 2020 is to be rolled over to 2021 with nominations now remaining open until 31st August 2021. All existing entries will be included in the 2021 judging process.

The exceptionally late start to the boating season, combined with the huge scale of event cancellations this year, has led to the difficult decision not to present the award in 2020 and instead open up a considerably longer window for entries to be made for the 2021 award.

Originally created to reward outstanding acts of seamanship witnessed during the Round the Island Race, the competition was recently opened up to nominations from across the world and from all types of boating activity. The prestigious accolade is designed to recognise people within the boating community who go above and beyond to help others or challenge themselves.

The 2019 MS Amlin award was presented to Roy P. Disney for his selfless action rescuing the nine man crew of John Sangmeister’s OEX, after damage to the rudder post caused her to sink during the 50th Transpacific Race.

What individual or team will you nominate to win this prestigious title? Email nominations, explaining why they should win in no more than 250 words to marketing@havenkj.com and make sure all great acts of seamanship are entered for the chance to win.

Business Development Manager, Paul Knox-Johnston said, “Presenting the Haven Knox-Johnston Seamanship Award is great way of giving back to the boating community and paying tribute to those who stand out from the crowd. 2020 has been a very difficult year and we hope that 2021 will provide an opportunity for postponed and planned events to be held, alongside a full, action packed boating season.”

Entries close on 31st August 2021 and the winner will be contacted by 2nd September 2021.

Please note: As part of a deal which completed in January 2021 Aston Lark Limited bought the Boat Insurance business from MS Amlin and decided to change the business back to the well-loved brand Haven Knox-Johnston.
